“Merci” is a known brand of milk chocolates which is very popular in Russia. It may taste unusually sweet for a privileged middle-class western European used to comfort and luxury. Receiving several boxes when I was traveling throughout Russia has been an eye-opener.
Seldom I had felt so welcomed and honoured. Touched by the generosity and simplicity of the people I met, impressed by the strength of women who carry their own family and the whole society. Touched by the authenticity and humility with which Russians celebrate their people.
